Corrections Academy Scholarships

You may qualify for free job training and earn a salary while you train.

Attend SPC's 13-week Corrections Academy for free and you could have a job waiting for you!

Scholarships are available through the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office or SPC's job training program, which can help you get back on your feet if you lost your job or had a pay cut because of COVID-19.

 

 

Do You Qualify?

Please answer the following questions to see if you are ready to apply.

Are you at least 19 years old?

Are you of good moral standing?

At any time within the last six months, have you used any tobacco products, including nicotine, cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, snuff, e-cigarettes, a hookah, vaping devices or any other items containing tobacco or nicotine?

Are you willing to undergo a thorough background check and drug and alcohol testing?

You have met a portion of the pre-screening requirements to proceed with your application as a Detention and Corrections Deputy Recruit.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office does not hire persons who use tobacco products and requires "no tobacco use" by applicants for a six-month period to application and during length of employment. In order to work for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, you must successfully complete a background investigation and testing that may include a polygraph test, drug screening, physical assessment, hearing and vision screening and a psychological evaluation.

St. Petersburg College offers many programs to prepare you for your career in law enforcement. And some programs offer financial aid opportunities so you can advance or enter the field.
